Let the Games Begin

Today we start the 2010 JapanBall tour with a train ride north of Tokyo to the city of Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture. This will not be my first trip to see the Rakuten Golden Eagles; Marc and I saw a game at the lovely Kleenex Miyagi Stadium in 2008. Because of rare delays to Japan's super-efficient train system, we didn't have time to see much of Sendai. Instead, we went straight to the game and went straight back to Tokyo afterward. Here's my recap of that day on yesnetwork.com.

In tonight's game Rakuten hosts the Seibu Lions. I'm looking forward to meeting stats guru Brandon Siefken in person and seeing the "Mayor of Rakuten," Marty Keuhnert, again.

I'm excited that we'll have time to explore the city that eluded us two years ago. What should we do? Ride the Loople?

re: Loople. Who doesn't enjoy the atmosphere of a bus?

I imagine it depends on where the bus is. :)

Postscript

I like the game show had been unexpected, however. I record in the U.S. after three consecutive strikeouts with the bases loaded clearing triple to walk 04 batters in a row like what I did there?

Who pitched? I got to see Tanaka when I was up there last year, but either Tanaka or Iwakuma is on the DL right now. Can't remember which...

Man do I hate the Lions for absolutely no rational reason...Go Eagles!

Hasebe pitched, and not well. He walked the first four batters he faced, then gave up a grand slam. Ugh.

Tanaka is on the DL.

Game 2 - Swallows vs BayStars in Yokohama.
